Full-time position available with the Water Department, Engagement & Education Division located at 4800 E. 63rd St.
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Episodic telework or 1 scheduled telework day per pay period available after 6 month probation.

Responsibilities
  • Oversees and audits educational and outreach programs by analyzing data from questionnaires, interviews, and group discussions.
  • Compiles reports- monthly, CY, FY, SY and statistics to meet regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, the MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems) and Overflow Control Program.
  • Checks Daily Data Input for correct and up-to-date data entry of participants served
  • Works with the Curriculum Coordinator(s) by assisting with presentations, preparing in-classroom water quality education and reviewing,and approving new water related curriculum.
  • Ensures outreach efforts are in line with Missouri Learning Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
  • Maintains budget and orders needed materials for ongoing outreach efforts.
  • Oversees Water Quality Small Grants Program, prepares application, forms review and selection committee, and processes grant.
  • Coordinates and leads indoor and outdoor water education programs, including classroom lessons, green infrastructure tours, litter pickups, storm drain marking, stormwater presentations, and related environmental education as it relates to water.
  • Provides outreach opportunities to the community by preparing and presenting water quality related information for civic groups.
  • Coordinates participation with various environmental stakeholders.
  • Develops the website and social media content, and evaluates and responds to requests for speakers and participation in tabling events.
  • Participates in various local water quality education committees.
  • Engages with nonprofits, boards and other work groups related to academic and environmental education.
  • Prepares financial statements and reports.
  • Supervises and manages Curriculum Coordinator(s).
  • Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications

REQURIES an accredited Bachelor's degree and 3 years of progressively responsible, professional experience in business or public sector administration, with at least 2 years at the level of the City's Senior Administrative Assistant; OR an equivalent combination of qualifying education and experience, with at least 3 years at the level of the City's Senior Administrative Assistant. Preference given for 5 years of progressively responsible experience as an environmental professional or educational program manager and/or 3 years of experience in classroom instruction in K-12 accredited institution.

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.

For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained.

Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
